Description: On Monday June 9, 2014 at 6:30pm, the Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS) and Creative.Life.Support, the non-profit arm of Mr. Smalls Funhouse, are sponsoring a concert at Mr. Smalls Theatre in Millvale to raise funds for the Allegheny County Music Festival Fund. Youth involved with DHS, including current and former foster youth, will show off musical abilities honed through their participation in the “We Rock Workshop”, a residency program led by Rusted Root’s Liz Berlin. In the 10-week workshop, youths explore the meaningful creation of music and how it relates to their lives, all culminating with the recording of their own original songs and a final showcase of their talents at the “We Rock Workshop” fundraiser concert. This year’s brilliant participants have written and recorded an extraordinary eight original songs. To purchase tickets, visit www.werockworkshop.eventsbot.com. The concert is free for foster youth, $5.00 for students, and $10.00 for general admission. VIP admission is $25.00 and includes a T-shirt designed by the youth and a CD of their recorded songs. Description: Mr. Smalls Theatre will be hosting a “Creative.Life.Support Revival Series” Showcase at 7pm on Friday June 6th, 2014 featuring a special reunion of Crisis Car, Drowning Clowns, Morgan Erina, The Wreckids, Korel Tunador, and Phat Man Dee. The Creative.Life.Support Revival Series is a revolutionary model of local showcases where admission is free for over 21 ($2 for under 21). Each band will be distributing free tickets and are paid according to how many of their tickets are redeemed at the door. A tip jar also goes around between sets, earning the bands some extra cash. Crisis Car was a staple of the Pittsburgh music scene in the early 00’s, earning them a strong fan base, consistent radio play and an opening support slot on the Summer 2000 tour of The Who. Following their success, the group separated to tackle new opportunities with members going on to join the touring bands of national acts The Goo Goo Dolls and Katy Perry as well as forming the self-proclaimed “psychedelic rock orchestra” the Drowning Clowns. The members of Crisis Car are refueled and are converging for this special reunion event – don’t let this extraordinary revival speed on by. This is one show not to be missed!

Description: This coming Father’s Day weekend promises to be a great weekend for the dramatic Production “What’s Hurting My Brother”. This play will entertain you, surprise you, make you think, make your laugh and maybe make you cry. This play is all about the importance of family, faith and honesty. The play stars, Joshua Knight, Marlon Martin, Tonya Jenkins, Erin Knight, Daniel Spaulding and a host of others.

Everyone needs to see this production and after you see it you will wish someone else had been there with you. The Play is written and directed by Duane Youngblood and is one of the many planned by The Difference Makers Agency over the next couple years.

Every Tuesday, Romp N Roll roller skating rink offers $5.00 admission into Tot Tuesday, a skate session open just for children 9 and under and their parents.

Tiny Tots runs from 1pm – 3 pm and the $5.00 covers entry, roller skate rental, a slice of pizza and a drink. If the supervising adult just wants to walk on the rink next to the children, they don’t have to pay admission. A slice of pizza and a soda will cost $2.00.

Information:There’s no need to keep quiet in this library. As a matter of fact, playing, chatting, and jumping are highly encouraged here. Operating as a volunteer run cooperative, The Pittsburgh Toy Lending Library is a safe indoor play space filled with a myriad of toys and activities for babies and young children through kindergarten age.

Your first visit free (adults and babies under 1 are always free), and admission for future trips is $5 per child with a maximum of $10 per family. Memberships are also offered for as little as $55 a year, and reduced or free memberships are available based on financial need.

Children can play with hundreds of toys including infant toys, gross motor development toys, imaginative play toys, and cognitive development toys. Those who choose to become members also have the privilege of “checking out” toys at no cost. Now how can the little ones not love this library?
